This weekend, some of the Paver Smith staff and clients are
embarking on an Irish trek and mountain climb.
Final preparations are being made for the trip: walking gear has
been readied, hotels booked and curry orders submitted. Now there
is the small matter of getting to the top of Carrauntoohil- some
1039m above sea level.
Carrauntoohil, in County Kerry, is Ireland's highest mountain.
Our group will be staying in nearby Killarney, celebrating our
successful (hopefully!) scale of the mountain with a night out on
the town afterwards.
Having not climbed a mountain for years, the task could seem pretty
daunting. However, these days we have access to a wealth of
knowledge online offering tips, information about the routes and
safety advice. Finding out one of the walking routes is called the
'Devil's Ladder' has at least warned me what to expect.
It also has plentiful information on the best that Killarney's
nightlife has to offer- helping us along to a perfect weekend.
We must also spare a thought for poor Barry who had signed up for
the walk but injured his ankle ligaments when playing for Paver
Smith's boys football team. Even though he can barely walk, he
is still travelling over and taking part in all the fun.
Here's hoping we all make it up and down. And that Barry's
got the Guinness ready for our return.
