The big news of the week so far has been nothing political,
hasn't involved Wimbledon or the rugby.
Instead the unveiling of Top Gear's stunt driver, The
Stig's, identity has created a big splash. The Stig was
revealed to apparently be Michael Schumacher.
The story was a big media hit with coverage appearing in places
such as the Guardian, the Mirror
and Digitalspy, but
also featured on websites
worldwide.
The big reveal is a fantastic PR stunt, attracting plenty of
attention to fact that the new series of Top Gear is about to start
and undoubtedly drawing viewers.
The Stig's identity had previously been shrouded in mystery and
subject to lots of speculation. Clearly, Michael Schumacher is not
The Stig and the mystery remains.
The stunt is also a nod to Top Gear's sense of humour, one that
keeps non-petrolheads watching week after week. Even me.
