In 2010, Liverpool will be the only UK city, other than London, with a dedicated presence at the World Expo in Shanghai. Paver Smith has been tasked given the PR brief to support its presence in China.
Between May and October next year an
estimated 70 million people are expected to attend the Expo which
provides an international platform for the city and region to
demonstrate its cultural and economic vibrancy.
Leading the Expo programme on behalf of the city and its partners
is economic regeneration agency, Liverpool Vision.
The city's links with Shanghai are well documented. With the
Liverpool Shanghai
Partnership at the hub of the current relationship and
Liverpool about to celebrate the tenth anniversary of its twinning
with Shanghai later this year, the bonds between both cities will
only strengthen in the run up to the Expo.
These two great trading cities stand on opposite sides of the globe
but the links that have been forged over the decades and the extra
steps being taken now, are designed to maximise Liverpool's
special relationship with the trading heart of China.
But Liverpool will not be there to simply
trumpet its own achievements and opportunities.
Liverpool will be hard at it championing the very best the entire
North West region has to offer. From the beauty of the Lake District and the
commercial centre of Manchester to the region's best art
collections and the array of world class education
institutions, Expo 2010 is an opportunity for the entire
North West.
