Senator George Mitchell, the man instrumental in brokering the Good Friday Agreement, delivered a John Moores University Roscoe Lecture at Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall.
The DLA Piper sponsored lecture, entitled The Challenges Facing Western Democracies in the 21st Century, covered various world issues such as nuclear arms, the Cold War and the war on terror.
Senator Mitchell is on the Global Board for DLA Piper and was in Liverpool for its annual conference.
