Return to Liverpool

It was exactly a year to the day since I returned to what has to be one of my favourite cities.

And here I find myself in what have to be the finest office surroundings in the region - if not the country - with spectacular views across the Mersey and even to my home town of Bebington. What a way to celebrate my first year back in Livepool!

I had spent the majority of my working life in the city, at the Liverpool Daily Post and ECHO - more than a decade in fact - gosh that makes me feel quite old - but I made the decision to move into PR just over three years ago.

It was a move which initially took me to darkest Cheshire and saw me based in Warrington for several months.

But as I missed out on the excitement and buzz of city life, I longed to be back in Liverpool. Thanks to former ECHO Deputy Editor Jon Brown and former Daily Post Editor Jane Wolstenholme, they made this happen for me and in May last year I moved to Factory Communications - it was a move which saw my career really take off.

And now, on the first anniversary of me joining the Factory Empire I find myself working for the PR agency which everyone is talking about - Paver Smith. This, of course, follows the acquisition of Factory by Paver Smith.

I really cannot believe how quickly it has all happened - I have been here for four days now - and I can honestly say it feels like four years - after those initial few hours of feeling like the "new girl" all over again, this quickly passed as everyone in the Paver Smith team is so friendly and made everyone from Factory extremely welcome.

Great colleagues and great office surroundings create a great team spirit - and with fantastic clients to go with this - I believe we have the perfect recipe for success.

A call I received from one of my clients, the Metquarter, earlier this week was a call which in the world of PR we love to hear.

Cheryl at Links of London came up with the initiative earlier in the year of creating a silver-plated postcard - it was something which she did for a relation's golden wedding anniversary - very soon after the idea was adopted by Liverpool Cathedral which commissioned one of the silver-plated cards for Sir Paul McCartney when he came to the city. And on the back of the PR which they received - Cheryl has since been inundated with a whole host of orders. She is obviously delighted.

This, of course, is what good PR is all about - and we just hope all of our clients are as happy as Cheryl.
