Martyn Best, Managing Director

Rose are red, violets are blue,

A new Poet Laureate for me and for you.

Martyn Best, reflects on this new appointment, in the only style possible.

And will Carol Ann Duffy, a lovely girl,
Hold the great British public in her lyrical glare;
What will she say, what will she write,
To make our grim lives so shiny and bright?

"What is the point?", a number have said,
When our world is filled with horror and dread;
We just don't need another diversion,
When our boom has gone bust in another conversion.

Another drain on our PSBR?,
Our public money won't go that far;
Why do we need such silly verse,
Surely it's just another curse?

Yet hold on, ye cynics, give her some time,
The lady's well versed in the art of the rhyme.
There's surely a way to get out of these blues
And that's with the help of our own brand new muse.

It doesnt always scan as poetry and I think you need to decide on one style, such as iambic pentameter and stick to it. good content though.7/10
