The Liverpool Boat Show

Paver Smith has been appointed to support plans for a major international boat show to be held in Liverpool in 2011.

The Liverpool Boat Show would be held in the surroundings of the historic Albert Dock, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors and injecting millions of pounds into the city's economy.

Liverpool City Council, the Northwest Regional Development Agency, The Mersey Partnership and the new Liverpool Waterfront Partnership are all backing the plan.

The show has secured major funding from the European Union and the support of key industry exhibitors. Other prospective marine industry exhibitors are being invited to a preview of the event in Liverpool on December 3.

Round the world yachtsman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston is chairman of the steering committee for the show.

Paver Smith has been appointed by organiser Marine Industry Events (MIE) Ltd, whose group portfolio includes the British International Motor Show.

The agency will be providing PR and creative services and has already been commissioned to design and produce a range of collateral, including a brand identity.

MD Dougal Paver said: "We'd been talking to the organisers for some time but rightly went through a tough competitive tendering process. It's a brilliant contract win for us, not least because it's going to be a huge amount of fun. The MIE team are a dynamic can-do bunch with great energy and a really creative approach to the project.

"The show is going to be a massive event for the city in 2011, delivering great exposure and attracting hundreds of thousands of people to the city, many of them for the first time."

Sir Robin Knox-Johnston said: "We will use the unique historical setting of the Albert Dock to create a boat show unlike any other, with the potential to become one of the most important and spectacular events of its kind in Europe."
