As director of BBC North, Peter Salmon is the man masterminding one of the biggest changes in the North West's media industry as sections of the BBC up sticks from the capital and move to Salford.
With reports that London staff required pastoral care from a chaplain because the prospect of moving to The North was so horrifying, it is pleasing to see Salmon writing in yesterday's Guardian that there will be a focus on recruiting locally.
The prevailing attitude until now seems to be that the South East has a monopoly on creativity and good journalism, so it is refreshing to see this attitude challenged by such a big player in the national media.
