Paver
Smith's events and PR teams recently launched Liverpool's prospectus
for the Shanghai World Expo 2010 to an audience of the North
West's civic and businesses leaders.
At the event, held at the NOVAS
centre, the partnership behind Liverpool's presence at the Expo
revealed that a virtual cruise from Liverpool to Shanghai will help
promote the city and region to an international audience at the
event, which starts in May 2010.
Tantalising glimpses of the
city's presence at the event were also revealed at the launch
of the official Prospectus, which details the opportunities the
event will generate for the region's economy.
Entitled Shanghai Connect, the
32-page Prospectus was developed by a partnership of Liverpool City
Council and the Liverpool-Shanghai Partnership, supported by
Liverpool Vision and the Northwest Regional Development Agency
(NWDA).
Described as a
'once-in-a-generation opportunity' to consolidate and build
relationships in the world's most important emerging economy,
the Shanghai Expo runs between 1st May and
31st October 2010 and will attract around 70 million
visitors.
Speakers at the launch event
included Steven Broomhead, Chief Executive at the NWDA; Cllr Warren
Bradley, leader of Liverpool City Council; Mike Taylor, Investment
Director at Liverpool Vision; and Dr Kerry Brown, Executive
Director for the Liverpool-Shanghai Partnership.
Guests were also treated to a
performance from the Pagoda Chinese Youth Orchestra.
