i will be, will you?

Today sees the launch of i, the Independent's new daily "lite" paper.

Costing 20p, it is a fifth of the price of the regular version and is a slimmed-down news digest for busy people who want their news on the go.

It is a bold move for an already loss-making company to launch a new product, particularly one targeted at a readership that so far seems elusive - 20-something urban professionals who are used to getting their news for free, be it online or from the likes of the Metro.

It will be interesting to see how i fares.

As a 20-something who already buys the Independent most mornings but struggles to find the time to read the whole thing, it is a product that certainly appeals to me.

Whether it can convince others in my age group to bother paying for their news in the first place is another matter.
