I've got a golden ticket

Liverpool became the centre of the music industry last week, as the MTV Music Awards arrived in the city.

Everybody across Europe had their eyes on the lights of Liverpool as stars, including Beyonce, Kanye West and Estelle, all arrived to perform in Liverpool's new ECHO Arena.
Entrance to the glamorous event proved to be harder to get hold of than one of Willy Wonker's golden tickets, but those who managed to get in were not disappointed. The arena looked sensational and all of the performers from The Killers to the host, Katie Perry, were fantastic.

Unfortunately, I was forced to watch the live show from my living room, but while I couldn't go to the awards I did manage to get my hands on my own golden ticket for the evening - a pass to the official after show party in the Albert Dock.

The party was spread across a selection of Liverpool's hottest bars including Circo, Babycream and HaHa, which were all connected to make one huge venue. The event turned out to be the evening's ultimate city hotspot for A-listers.

No sooner had we taken advantage of the free bar with a couple of Bacardi Mojitos, we turned to see Mark Owen heading in our direction. A few minutes later and we were dancing downstairs in the R&B area next to rapper, Kanye West.

As if those two celebrity encounters were not surreal enough, we also spotted Kid Rock, happily chatting to fans and signing autographs, MTV host, Katie Perry and Liverpool group, the Wombats.

My MTV experience was topped off with the highlight of my evening, a sneaky kiss on the cheek by 30 Seconds to Mars, lead singer, Jared Leto.

From the dazzling awards at the ECHO Arena to the glittering after show bash, I am sure it's not the last time we'll spot these celebrities in the city.

After all, we have certainly proved one thing - Liverpool knows how to throw a party!
