So here we are, then: September.
My journey to work is back up to 25
minutes and there were some rather grey looking clouds in the sky.
Our incredibly short-lived summer is definitely over.
My only saving grace for this was
the bank holiday weekend and,
of course,
the Mathew Street Festival. For as long as I can
remember my dad has taken me to the festival, and this year was no
exception.
Although, I did have other plans for
the bank holiday, a toe heavy tackle whilst playing for (the
mighty) PSG has left me with broken toes and soon put an end
to them.
Since the festival was launched 17
years ago it has grown in size and is now the biggest free music festival in Europe and, for the first time, the event had
the backing of some of the world's biggest entertainment
companies, including EMI and Cirque du Soleil.
Over the course of the
weekend, 300
bands performed in 50 indoor and outdoor venues,
including unsigned artists and an array of tribute acts.
I spent my time by the stage on
Tithebarn Street, a combination of my inability to walk far, and my
mother's love of the sounds of Motown.
More than 300,000 people came into
the city to enjoy the festival, and even the rain didn't dampen
their spirits.
I've already put it in my diary
for next year.
