More than twelve months of planning will be realised this week as agency directors Dougal Paver and Martyn Best begin a gruelling 42-mile trek through the Catalan Pyrenees.
The high-level route takes them eastwards into Andorra from La Guingueta, reaching almost 9,000 feet above sea level in a series of daily challenges.
"We've been on a strict training diet of Guinness and Sattterthwaite's pork pies and are in peak condition," said MD Dougal Paver.
But now, says Martyn Best, it's nuts, dried fruit and mineral water for four days "before normal service resumes" at the end of trek dinner in Barcelona.
A team of eight trekkers expect to raise £20,000 for Claire House Children's Hospice, for which Dougal has been a fundraising patron for six years.
