Freedom of e-speech

During the incredibly cold Christmas holidays I got my first flat tyre since I passed my test five years ago and, as luck would have it, I was on my own in the car.

As a self-sufficient and downright stubborn individual I thought I could change it myself and, to the surprise of family and friends, in less than fifteen minutes I did.

It got me thinking about the trials of maintaining a car, and a new one at that.

I'm really not looking forward to its first service, knowing as I do how expensive dealerships can be. But apparently there is a cheaper option.

For some time now EU rules have been in place allowing drivers to have their cars serviced at (cheaper) independent garages, without invalidating the manufacturer's warranty.

That is one of the reasons why our client, Blackcircles.com, is able to offer up to 60% savings on vehicle servicing.

The rules, called Block Exemption Regulations force car manufacturers to share technical information with independent garages, allowing them to service vehicles without invalidating the manufacturer's warranty.

These rules are under threat. Car manufacturers are constantly lobbying to have them reversed and, if this happens, UK motorists will be left with bigger bills and far less choice.

Blackcircles are petitioning the government to ensure this does not happen, for the good of consumer choice, the livelihoods of independent garages, and, most of all, your bank account.
