Free ways to escape Christmas chaos

The countdown to Christmas is now on and though money is tight for many, there has never been a better time to take in Liverpool's sights and sounds without breaking the bank.

Museum entry is free to all and may provide the perfect oasis from the chaos of Christmas - especially as most people will be pounding the pavement to complete their gift shopping on time.

Liverpool has a fantastic range of museums and exhibitions. For example, the World Museum, International Slavery Museum and the Maritime Museum are all a short stroll from each other. The museums all have hugely diverse exhibitions- from football in Only a Game? to an Ancient Egyptian gallery - and really have something for everyone.

The Walker Art Gallery houses one of the country's finest art collections and is a great place to spend a quiet afternoon away from the Christmas crowds. The contrasting Tate Liverpool along with the Contemporary Urban Centre all offer something different for the visitor.

The 90,000-plus Merseyside residents who own an 08 card can benefit from a multitude of ticket offers, free entry and competitions to some of the city's top attractions.

There are offers for Christmas shows at theatres such as the Royal Court and the Empire and competitions for tickets for family shows including High School Musical: The Ice Tour.

Free bus travel is also included on the S2 and S3 routes so people can visit all the attractions for nothing.

And if you want to hit the shops then the Christmas market is currently being set up in Williamson Square selling its festive food, lovely mulled wine and continental gifts.

So everyone can enjoy a cheap and cheerful Liverpool Christmas without missing out. And that includes the team at the north west's best PR agency.
