Paver Smith has announced an increase in first quarter turnover of 9% on 2009. Revenues grew to £620,000 from £569,000 in the three months to the end of March.

New contract wins during the quarter set an agency record, with £476,000 of annualized orders placed from companies including Slazenger Heritage, Oddfellows and Sanguine Hospitality Management.

"It's still tough out there and we're scrapping hard, but our focus on people development is feeding through in enhanced performance," said finance director Martyn Best, above.

"Our Manchester office, which we opened during 2009, is beginning to make a strong contribution to growth, with major clients such as Oddfellows coming on board," added Best.

Managing director Dougal Paver said the pending general election didn't seem to be causing uncertainty, as others have predicted.

"I think we've reached the point in the economic cycle where companies have got themselves in order and are saying 'sod it, let's crack on'."

Staff numbers remained constant during the period, at 38 employees. The company also secured ISO 14001, the environmental management standard, during the period. Latest year-end revenue was £2.4m, with the agency predicting growth to £2.5m this year.
