The continuing saga of or our dear honourable members of parliament is but a metaphor for more valiant deeds, ventures Martyn Best.
One by one they fall, some with noble efforts, and some cast aside with little to show, having finally been found out.
Some started the term with great hopes, some had great pedigrees and great reputations, and nearly all had such immense trust placed in them. Yet, when the numbers were tallied, and the news reports gave us the details it was quite clear what the outcome was.
And so, the inevitable has come to pass, and in our capital city, very soon, all will be revealed. There is now no escape, and the great British public, briefly weary, will embrace a true institution, where only two have survived.
I personally will arrive in great hope and expectation, and trust that true colours will be shown, and leaving my normal well balanced views aside, I will with unabashed favoritism and unapologetic bias, wish my dear Everton success on cup final day.
And would that our honourable members live by our motto - nil satis nisi optimum.
