End of season fly fishing in the Lakes

With the end of the trout season looming Paver Smith agency MD Dougal Paver took his old man, Allan, fly fishing at Watendlath Tarn. It was Allan who first introduced Dougal to fishing, aged 8, on the River Hyndburn in the Tatham Fells below Lancaster.

Seven beautiful rainbow trout were hooked in to and four taken home for supper on a splendid day at the National Trust's lovely Watendlath Tarn fly fishery.

Set high above Derwent Water, the tarn's dramatic setting makes it one of the most spectacular fly fisheries anywhere. It's sure to be a regular fixture next season for Liverpool Fly Fishers.
