Dougal Paver joins Tate Development Committee

Paver Smith MD Dougal Paver has joined the development committee of Tate Liverpool to help boost the award-winning gallery's links with the private sector.

"People talk about getting a Bilbao-style Guggenheim in Liverpool as part of the city's regeneration drive," said Dougal. "They forget that we've already got one and it's called the Tate. It gets more visitors annually than the Guggenheim and its collection and curatorial programme is a match for anyone."

"I'm delighted to support the gallery, which is one of the city's cultural gems. Its presence here was a key plank in our successful bid to be named European Capital of Culture 2008 and it already enjoys strong relationships with corporate supporters, who value it as a business partner. I'm looking forward to getting stuck in in whatever way the committee chairman wants."
