The
remarkable story of the man who spent more than a week in the
Australian outback and emerged alive has been splashed across the
news over the last day or so.
James Neale spent 12 days in the bush without food or drink and
apparently surviving on nettles. He was found by fellow walkers
and now is safe and recovering in hospital.
The Times has reported today that he has now hired a celebrity
agent to sell his story to the highest media bidder.
Now while his story might sound like the stuff of a Bear Grylls
documentary, that he hired an agent that day after he was admitted
to hospital is a reflection of modern media activity.
It is also a reflection of how media
savvy the average young person is today - the impact of reality
television and overnight fame means James understands the value of
his story. A story that could help to sell newspapers, could be
made into a television drama documentary or even a
film.
