The issue: DLA Piper is a leading global law firm with 64 offices across
25 countries. The Liverpool and Manchester office are retained
clients of Paver Smith. In April this year the company's global
board decided to hold its quarterly meeting in Liverpool. As legal
heavyweights from across the world descended on the city Paver
Smith was tasked with maximising press coverage during the visit.
The
objectives: Our main aims were to:
- Generate media coverage to raise
the profile of the Liverpool office of DLA Piper
- Maximize media coverage of the
global board meeting and global board members
- Manage media interest in the chair
of the global board, Senator George Mitchell
- Liaise with partner organisations
helping to facilitate the visit
The results:
Paver Smith generated pre and post event publicity
securing a steady stream of media coverage. A profile on office
managing partner, Philip Rooney, was timed to coincide with the
arrival of the board. The arrival of the board itself was covered
extensively with Senator George Mitchell giving an exclusive
interview with the Daily Post resulting in a front page story. All
avenues were explored including board member Jay Rains who, in
addition to being a partner in the firm's Santiago office, is
co-chairman of the US open. An interview was set up with the
Golfnorthwest section of the Daily Post resulting in prominent
media coverage. Overall:
- 12 articles generated over three
weeks
- £66,206.66 of press coverage
was achieved
- 2207% return on monthly PR fee
