They're the mainstay of every office: the once-trendy plastic bin now covered in old food, rock-hard chewy and rare organisms you could probably flog to an inquisitive scientist.
And they're no more at Paver Smith.
The bins have been removed from under each desk to be replaced with three large recycling bins in the office kitchen for paper, plastic and tins.
"After two days I'm amazed at the amount we recycle - and therefore used to waste," said operations director Rachel Smith.
The move is the first step in the company achieving the ISO 14001 environmental management certification, which helps the company manage and minimise the environmental impact of its operations.
"Responsible businesses and the government want to see their supply chain adopt best environmental practice so this will help them benchmark our high standards and give us a competitive advantage," said Smith.
"We secured Investors in People status in 2007 and the PRCA's prestigious Consultancy Management Standard in 2008, so ISO 14001 will be the next step towards helping us run a responsible business."
