Barry joined Paver Smith in August 2008 from a Liverpool-based PR agency, following a number of journalism and PR roles across Merseyside.
In a previous life, Barry worked as a lawyer in Newcastle, having graduated from Leeds University in 2000. He spent more than five years handling industrial disease claims on behalf of clients in many of the UK's former industrial heartlands.
Barry became disenchanted with his chosen career and sought a creative release in his spare time, penning his first - and to date only - novel. Abandoning the Toon and the law - but remembering to collect his Geordie wife on the way - he returned to his native Liverpool to train as a journalist.
A relative latecomer to the media industry, Barry wasted no time in developing his knowledge and contacts, working at the Liverpool Daily Post, Champion Group newspapers and the Press Association, as well as articles in magazines and online publications.
Barry embarked on his first PR role as a press officer at Warrington Borough Council, handling several high-profile stories before moving to the private sector, where he worked on a variety of professional services accounts.
Interests: Barry likes to spend every other weekend sat alongside his dad in the Main Stand at Goodison Park, cheering on the mighty Blues, a Scouse Pie in one hand and a pint of sponsor's beer in the other.
When he's not enjoying the balmy climes of L4, Barry enjoys sampling Liverpool's unique culture, holidaying and developing his ramshackle house near Penny Lane.
