The 11,000 seat Echo Arena is located on the world-famous
Liverpool waterfront.
It is part of the Arena and Convention Centre Liverpool (ACC
Liverpool), which also includes the BT Convention Centre.
The Echo Arena opened in January 2008 and welcomed its millionth
visitor last week.
To mark the occasion the Arena presented a lucky concert goer with
a golden ticket, which can be redeemed for a pair of free passes
for ten shows of their choice between now and the end of next year.
As an added bonus, winner Dorothy Krelle from Prescott was
presented the prize by Sir Cliff Richard, who was performing with
the Shadows on their 50th anniversary tour.
Since its opening the Arena has hosted a range of high profile
shows, including Sports Personality of the Year, the Stirling Prize
and the MTV Europe Awards. Acts which have played the venue include
Elton John, Pink Floyd, Coldplay and the Kings of Leon.
Future shows include Tom Jones, Morrissey, Muse, Beyonce and
Spandau Ballet.
