And the winner is...

Recently I went on a trip to Stockholm with friends. It was a really great experience and I found the city absolutely beautiful.

The story I want to share with you is from my visit to the Nobel Museum. Everyone knows about the Nobel Prizes, more or less, but there are some very interesting stories that I learned from the tour guide in the museum.

This is about Albert Einstein who got the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921. He is best known for his theory of relativity, however the prize he was awarded was for another theory.

He was nominated for years and they wanted to give him the Nobel Prize but according to the rules he couldn't get it for the relativity theory because at that time it hasn't been proved. Instead, he got the prize for his theory in photoelectric effect. Obviously a genius like him had a few spare theories to play with!

After receiving the prize he had to give a lecture for his winning theory. The funny thing is that the lecture he gave wasn't for photoelectric effect theory, as appropriate, but for the theory of relativity!

Furthermore he never got the money for this prize, which was a good amount of money! The money went directly to his ex-wife after a settlement in their divorce in 1919. She was refusing to sign the divorce and only signed it with the agreement to get the money from the Nobel Prize that she was sure Einstein would get sooner or later.

They say that behind a great man lies a greater woman, or maybe just a clever one! It's your call.
