Paver Smith has volleyed up a match-winning performance by landing
the job of promoting the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament.
Paver Smith, the tournament's official PR Partner, will support
the promotion and sponsorship development for the popular
Calderstones event, now a key fixture of Liverpool's sporting
and corporate hospitality calendar.
Anders Borg, tournament director, said the appointment would help
boost awareness of the popular event as well as give him access to
Paver Smith's extensive network.
"We have attracted the top players to Liverpool, with former
Wimbledon champions such as Martina Navratilova, Pat Cash, and
Goran Ivanisevic boosting the tournament's credibility.
"Laura Robson, last year's Wimbledon girls' singles
champion, was with us this June, and Michael Stich, another former
Wimbledon champion, won our main competition. The prospects for
next year look very good indeed.
"The tournament captures the community's spirit each year
and is being increasingly seen as a major opportunity for top
players to warm up for Wimbledon. "
The International Tennis Tournament is also a cornerstone of the
largest children's tennis programme in the UK, introducing more
than 6,000 youngsters to the sport each year. Primary and
secondary schools from throughout Lancashire and Cheshire
participate and the 2010 event is expected to be the biggest yet.
Paver Smith director Martyn Best endorsed the agency's
appointment, saying: "The tournament is a major part of
Liverpool's corporate entertainment scene, and very popular in
the build up to Wimbledon. A major focus next year will be
highlighting this to more of the top players, and there is some
exciting news in the pipeline on the player line-up. One key
element in our planning is of course that we have already booked
the sunshine."
The 2010 tournament serves up its first match on
16th June through to 20th June.
