We are constantly hearing in the news virtually
every day the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The messages ..... remember your five a day .....
exercise and live longer ... are words we are forced to live and
breathe.
There is no argument, eating healthily and
exercising on a regular basis ARE important and it is vital we get
this message across to the younger generation ... but how do we do
this?
Celebrity chef, Paul Heathcote, appears to have
come up with the perfect solution.
Paul is reknowned for his child-friendly policy in
his restaurants and toddlers eat free in Olive Press. Now Paul
has taken things a step further.
Paul and his team of chefs are teaching the next
generation how to become budding cooks of the future.
Every Sunday while mum and dad enjoy lunch at the
Olive Press their siblings are learning the do's and don'ts
in the kitchen. This is part of a programme launched by Paul to
educate children in healthy eating and to prove to them that
cooking and preparing a nutririous meal is simple - when you know
how.
Meanwhile workers in south Merseyside are
literally "singing away" the stresses of the working day
following the launch of fortnightly music workshops.
I love nothing more than going home from work,
doing my regular evening run and then spending an hour playing my
piano, clarinet and saxaphone.
Music brings pleasure and relaxation all at once -
and at the same time can help to focus the mind and aid with
co-ordination.
And PfL
(Partnership for Learning) now has the bug .... among its 38-strong
workforce there are three bands. These people have joined forces to
create their own PfL musical ensemble. To help relieve the stresses
of the working day they invite their colleagues into PfL theatre
during breaks and lunchtimes to provide them with musical
entertainment - and all the staff sing a-long. It has proved to be
such a hit they are now hoping to enter the next Eurovision Song Contest - I have
heard the band and I think they are fantastic - I wish them all the
luck in the world.
