Paver Smith senior partner Martyn Best has just completed his one-year stint as President of the Liverpool Society of Chartered Accountants.
During his tenure, Best, himself a chartered accountant who worked for Paver Smith client DSG and Ernst & Young, accepted the Freedom of the City of Liverpool from Lord Mayor Frank Prendergast.
“It was a slightly unusual choice for the Society but I believe I brought a different business perspective to the role and also some good aspects of the PR day job.
"I was proud to have developed and published a quarterly newsletter entitled Chartered ONE, increased the LinkedIn membership by over 300% and generally raised the local profile of what is the oldest district society in the UK and a founding member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales.”
Best is very happy to reduce the number of formal waist-inflating dinners he now has to attend but says he has no plans to take advantage of Freedom of the City privileges such as herding sheep down Old Hall Street...
