The issue: Landis+Gyr is the UK's leading developer, manufacturer and supplier of metering products. The company has invested more than £10m in smart meters, which have the potential to help reduce domestic carbon emissions and fuel poverty. The meters provide householders with real-time information about their energy-usage in monetary and kilowatts per hour terms, which will encourage people to maximise energy efficiency. The technology also offers numerous benefits for energy retailers as it'll eliminate the need for physical meter readings and help improve energy management.

The objectives: Landis+Gyr objectives in 2008 include:
