10 things about... Martyn Best

Martyn Best, Managing Director

Who would be your ideal dinner date, past or present?

It would either be a round-table of the Google boys and Bill Gates, to appreciate their awesome vision; or a round table of Cameron Diaz, Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson for the same reason

Best example of PR you have seen recently?

The naming of Everton's retail store in Liverpool's outstanding Grosvenor retail area. It's address: Everton Two, Liverpool One.

If you were an animal, what would you be?

It would have to be a bird of some kind - imagine soaring above the traffic jams ?

Which aspect of your career do you enjoy the most?

The self-responsibility, the variety and the opportunity to chose to work with some great people.

If your life story was made into a film, who would play the leading role?

Couldn't find the budget for one single actor, so I guess cameos from Brad, Jack, Johnny, Clark and George would have to do.

Favourite writer/ columnist?

Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie) for such an emotional insight; Patrick Barclay and Simon Barnes on national sport.

Print or online?

Both - the feel of raw print will never fade, but the instant, omni-present access to on-line is just sometimes mind-blowing.

What do you like most about Liverpool/ Manchester?

Liverpool has a cockiness, warmth and charm which sometimes helps it overcome elements of its reality, and which has enabled it to bounce back so well in the past two decades - a best mate who's never far away.

Manchester has a more cosmopolitan feel, and a bigger city sense.

If you weren't in PR, what would you do?

I'd be in Shanghai - seeing what other opportunities could be developed. That is the place to be for easily the next decade - go East young man.

iPhone or Blackberry?

Are you kidding? Anyone who knows me will recognise the 11th apple looking digit that I have.
